The FireFax Show: Sequels

A while ago ES dropped a few clues on their next project. Though ES has been hard at work with Halo Wars, they have been mentioning a few projects they are thinking of making. First off we have remakes. There have been rumors that ES plans to remake Age Of Kings after finishing HW. Though this is great for reviving the AoK community, many users play AoK because of inadequate graphics cards. As great of an idea AoK is, I don't think it needs a remake quite yet. Next off there has also been a mention of another AoE III expansion. This is definitely not the best idea. One, because there are already two other expansions and there aren't much other ideas for an expansion and two, the modding community has made some expansions such as the Napoleonic Age mod and the Ancient Age mod. Now another, possibly the most likely another AoM. This brings up the most discussion out of all. Now look at AoM, the community at AoMH is still going strong even after 5 years. This is a great example of how much attention the sequel would get. But there are some cons to this unfortunately, the first game has featured all three major mythological pantheons. ES originally thought of Hindu or chinese civilizations however that didn't make it into production because the folklore and myths are not as widely known. ES could always remake it, but I've already explained that in the first part. Another AoM is likely next up because ES mentioned they will be doing something that will please their fans, it may not necessarily relate to AoM, but it sure gives an idea of the possibility. Another idea was to have the fourth AoE(Most likely based on the world wars). It is a great idea to have it, but now is probably not the best time, with the release of AoE III and two expansions, the fans may be looking for something else on top of that there are also other WW based RTS's out right now which will give it something to compete with. Finally we come to ES's MMORPG idea. A while ago, ES explained their thoughts on an MMO. Not sure if fans would appreciate it much however as ES is generally an RTS creator. For one, the MMO usually looks different than an RTS(Take WOW for example), displeasing some of the more hardcore fans. Though it would be a new experience to some players who are getting restless from just RTS games. These are all fascinating ideas, and who knows what ES might have up their sleeves fo the future.

Interesting.. though I'm sure everyone would prefer to see AoM 2 but any of these games will make me happy as long as they keep to the same gameplay experience as their ancestors.
